Community Outreach

TVHS Student Council actively looks for ways to reach out to the local community.

  • One way we do this is through a pen pal partnership between STUCO members and classes from the elementary school students in the district.  We hope to build connections among our "big" and "little" kids and give the younger students someone to connect with at the high school.

An upcoming event that we hope the younger students will enjoy is our first ever Valentine's Day Child's Night Out.  This event will be on February 9 from 5:00 to 9:00 PM.  This evening will be an opportunity for parents to drop their children off for a kid free night.  Kids who attend TVSD in grades K-4 will be placed in small groups led by Student Council members for a night of games, crafts, a movie and snacks. Each child costs $5.00 and flyers will be sent home with all elementary school children  by the end of January.  Registration is due by February 2 and parents may register their children at studentcouncil@tvsd.info.  We ask that all children bring  a sleeping bag or blanket for the movie.  Also, when registering, please give your child's name, age and any food allergies he/she may have.  Please know this event is only for children and we hope parents will enjoy a night away from the kids.

Clare House Project:

  • STUCO members volunteered for 4 Saturdays in Reading to help prepare a building for women transitioning from prison to the workplace.  Students took out trash, tore out carpet, cleaned out rooms, fixed items, and painted the walls.
