Student Council
What is Student Council?
Student Council is an organization that focuses on bringing leadership, charitable endeavors, and spirit to the students of TVHS. A few endeavors of Student Council include: leadership conferences, volunteering events, hosting school dances and spirit weeks, and many other activities.
Student Council is open to all students in TVHS. Those applying for membership must obtain a membership application from Ms. Witman in 201.
We meet every Tuesday morning in the library at 7:00 AM and welcome new ideas from the students of TVHS to make this the best environment for the entire student body and staff.
Ongoing Initiative:
Raider Closet:
This year, Student Council started a new program called The Raider Closet. Through this initiative, we hope to reach out to those students and families in need. Students may see their guidance counselors to access the pantry to take food, hygiene items, clothes (for all sizes and ages), school supplies and backpacks, free of charge, no questions asked. No one besides the counselor is aware of which students choose to use the closet, and we hope this will be a place for students to get the items they need.
If you are interested in donating to the closet, we take donations year round of nonperishable food items, gently used or new clothes of all sizes, hygiene items and school supplies. If you would like to donate, please drop off items in the main office or contact Ms. Witman at twitman@tvsd.org.
State Award:
This year our council won the Distinguished Keystone Council Award. This award was given at our state conference and issued to only 6 high schools in the state. We received this award for our community service, leadership opportunities, school spirit initiatives, and charitable endeavors.
