As Artemis II wrapped up this past weekend, sending astronauts Victor Glover, Christina Koch, Jeremy Hansen, and Reid Wiseman on a historic journey around the Moon, space exploration is once again in the spotlight.

Here in Twin Valley, that excitement hit close to home.

TVMS 5th- and 6th-grade students recently connected with Captain Sunita Williams, is a U.S. Navy captain, helicopter pilot, and record-setting NASA astronaut who has spent 608 days in space and completed 9 spacewalks. She shared what life is really like aboard the International Space Station and how her work helps prepare for future Moon and Mars missions—just like Artemis II.

This incredible opportunity grew from a student connection and turned into a live virtual visit, inspiring curiosity, questions, and big dreams about space.

From our classrooms to the cosmos, the future is bright! Thank you, Captain Williams, for continuing to support our students at TVSD by sharing your knowledge and experiences.

But what truly sets Claudia apart is her heart. Claudia’s administrators describe her as “passionate about kids, a true advocate, a great mentor, and deeply connected with families.” She truly embodies the spirit of the Annie Sullivan Award through the care and compassion she gives to her community.
