twin valley school district News

Dear Twin Valley School District Families,

We are writing to inform you about recent changes to state regulations regarding our school district's water supply at Robeson Elementary Center, Twin Valley Middle School and Twin Valley High School.

The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has created new testing standards and established new Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCL) for two substances: perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS). While our district is currently in compliance with these regulations and has not been directed to take action, we are proactively addressing this matter to remain in compliance with the new testing requirements.

To this end, we have:

  1. Met with DEP representatives to discuss remediation efforts.

  2. Begun working with Suburban Water Technology to design and submit a recommendation for an on-site filtration system.

  3. Initiated discussions with a local Water Authority to explore alternative options.

It is important to note that this is not an issue specific to the Twin Valley School District. Many districts and water authorities across Pennsylvania are addressing similar challenges.

We remain fully committed to the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff. We will keep you informed of any significant developments or changes as we progress with these initiatives.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mrs. Tracy Detwiler, Business Manager, at 610-286-8600 or tdetwiler@tvsd.org.
